We're also BYU's largest cotton-candy distributor, so we have a lot to offer, no matter who you are.
Manufacturing Shop
Did you know there is a new shop in Physical Facilities?
The Physical Facilities Manufacturing Shop (formerly known as the “PML”) has been a service entity providing manufacturing services on campus for decades. Recently the shop was transferred from the College of Engineering over to Physical Facilities under Transportation Services. It is now called the PF Manufacturing Shop.
This facility was first created in the late 1950’s to produce the first synthetic diamond press machines that were invented here on campus by Dr. Tracy Hall. Over the years, the facility has evolved into a shop that provides many services for academic research and physical facilities upkeep. Here are few of the shop's capabilities: mechanical design & 3D CAD modeling, metallurgical science, basic to advanced CNC machining, high precision welding, welding of exotic materials, microscopic welding, and additive manufacturing (aka 3D printing).
This facility helps give BYU technological and financial advantage over many other universities. The shop operates with minimal cost to all BYU departments and is directly influential to the success of BYU's nationally renowned faculty and graduate research.
