EveryDay Learners - Over 2,000 Welcome Baby Families Helped

Your donations to United Way’s EveryDay Learners education initiative support programs like Welcome Baby. Thanks to BYU employees, over 2,000 families received educational home visits, parenting classes, and playgroups last year. This program helped foster early education and literacy skills for children before they enter kindergarten.

Your donations especially made a difference during a trying year when parents felt overwhelmed and children missed out on some important developmental opportunities.

“Welcome Baby helped me to feel supported and at peace during the new parenting months when I felt confused and like I was learning to swim with a baby in my arms,” said one Welcome Baby parent.

Thank you for giving back to your community to support families. BYU employee donations helped Welcome Baby expand their services to nearly twice as many families.

“I would recommend Welcome Baby because it provides a sense of community. We all are trying to figure out this parenting thing together and Welcome Baby helps give resources, ideas, and activities to help your child learn and grow. I have really appreciated all the examples of how to help our children with the development and especially how to associate what we learned to the books we read,” said a local mother.

Family Support - Crisis Nursery Prevents Child Abuse

BYU employees helped make over 6,000 therapy sessions possible last year! Donations to support United Way’s partner agency, Family Support and Treatment Center, helped strengthen the emotional and mental health of children and families in Utah County.

Your donations also helped 500 children receive 10,000 hours of services in the crisis nursery. This important community program allows parents time and space to focus on other important family concerns or to lower their stress level to reduce the risk of abuse occurring in the home.

"The Family Support & Treatment Center brought me out of crisis. When I came here, I was drowning and thought it would be a 3-hour break from the chaos of my home. Instead, it transformed the chaos and gave us a calm that we have never had before. Because I get a break, I can’t help but parent differently and then my kids can’t help but behave differently. I still use the nursery, but to maintain and prevent,” said one crisis nursery parent.

Thank you for helping prevent child abuse and strengthening families!

EveryDay Support - 211 - Single Mother Receives Help during Challenging Financial Year

Thank you for supporting our community! Your donation to United Way’s EveryDay Support initiative helped families in Utah County become more financially stable during a hard year.

One program BYU employees supported was Utah 211. This free informational referral line helps families find services to meet their basic needs like housing assistance, food assistance, affordable healthcare, and more.

Last year, over 14,000 calls, messages, and app searches helped community members find assistance through 211. One caller helped last year was a single mother of three children. She grew increasingly worried about her family’s finances when she received a notice her water was going to be shut off in just three days. As bills continued to pile up, she called 2-1-1 where she was connected to utility assistance programs near her. Thanks to donors like you, families can receive important income assistance services.
